5G Quality of Service is based on QoS Flows. There are 3 main types of such flows:
- Non-Guaranteed Bit Rate (Non-GBR) QoS Flow used for packet transmission
- Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) QoS Flow used for Conversational and RealTime application
- Delay Critical Guaranteed Bit Rate QoS Flow used for Ultra-Reliable Time Critical Application.
It’s worth to notice the above flows are grouped in PDU sessions when connecting the backbone network with base stations. One PDU session is created for single User Equipment to connect it with a specific Data Network (i.e. Internet or Voice Network).
On the wireless connection, QoS flows are mapped into Radio Bearer. Non-GBR and GBR flows could be assigned to a single bearer. Delay Critical QoS flow is always assigned to a separate one.
